Social Media Banner Sizes in 2026: A Practical Cheat Sheet
Up-to-date dimensions for Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube — plus how to design once and export smart.
Nothing slows a launch like exporting the wrong banner size and watching Instagram crop your headline. This cheat sheet covers the formats I use most often in 2026 for founder-led brands — and how to design efficiently.
Website headers
- Hero desktop: 1920×1080 px (safe text zone: center 1200×600)
- Hero mobile: 1080×1350 px or responsive artboard in Figma
Design one strong composition, then crop — do not stretch.
- Feed portrait: 1080×1350 px (4:5)
- Story / Reels cover: 1080×1920 px (keep key text in center 1080×1420)
Facebook & LinkedIn
- Facebook cover: 820×312 px (display) — keep logos away from bottom-left on mobile
- LinkedIn personal banner: 1584×396 px
- LinkedIn company cover: 1128×191 px
YouTube
- Channel banner: 2560×1440 px (safe area ~1546×423 px for all devices)
One file, many exports
Build master artboards at the largest size you need, use guides for safe zones, and export PNG/WebP for web. For motion covers, keep typography in the safe zone — platforms overlay UI controls.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Instagram post size in 2026?
1080×1350 px (4:5) maximizes feed real estate. Square 1080×1080 still works but shows smaller on many feeds.
Why do my banners look blurry?
Usually export at 2× resolution or upload a file upscaled from a tiny source. Start from vector or 2× raster artboards.
Can one designer file work for all platforms?
Yes — use separate artboards or frames per size in Figma with shared components.
Should I use PNG or WebP for web heroes?
WebP with PNG fallback is ideal for performance; PNG is fine for smaller sites and email.
